WHAT ARE WE STUDYING

Year 7 will be learning the basic skills of how to be successful in Drama with the topic Serious Fun! They will focus on team work and how they can use Concentration, Cooperation and communication to help them in Drama lessons. They then will move on to look at different genres in Drama and how to create their own stories using Drama skills.

KS3 are on a Performing Arts Rotation- Drama, Dance and Music. They study 1 discipline per long term.

WHAT ARE WE STUDYING

Year 8 will re-visit Serious Fun with a re-mixed version where they learn trust falls and ensemble theatre. They will then move on to study Silent Movies where we will explore their use of atmosphere and tension through the skills of movement and body language, ending the topic with their own Silent Movie. They will then move onto looking Stage Fighting.

WHAT ARE WE STUDYING

Year 9 will start with learning all the basic skills and devices used to create interesting and thought-provoking pieces of theatre. They will study techniques used by professional theatre-makers such as Frantic Assembly and DV8 Physical Theatre; leading to a final performance of the techniques they have learnt.

10

WHAT ARE WE STUDYING

TERM 1 and 2
Year 10 will start by looking at Unit 1 BTEC Performing Arts industry. They will study three different theatre performances and look at how they were created and who created them. They will then go on to create a power-point presentation of their research and findings. They will then create a short performance based on one of the performances they have studied.

TERM 3-5
C3 Performing to a brief.

Students will be given a brief from the exam board where they have to devise their own performance. They will work in groups and create a performance between 10-15 minutes in length. They will also take part in three written activities to analyse and evaluate their process of devising their performance.

This will be a MOCK assessment.
Performances will be filmed for assessment purposed and students will take part in a reflective session once they have completed the performance.

WHAT ARE WE STUDYING

TERM 1 and 2
You will begin year 11 with a thorough review of your current level in each area of study: composing, performing, listening. With your teacher, you will discuss and set targets and deadlines focussing on your two performances. You will get to see the OCR composing and performing briefs for your year and begin planning for this also.

TERM 3-5
C3 Performing to a brief.
