WHAT ARE WE STUDYING

Year 7 will be finding out about Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico, talking about their character. They will also cover the themes of school life and free time, broadening their repertoire of vocabulary as they develop paragraph structure, adding in opinions, reasons and connectives.

OTHER INFORMATION

Students are expected to learn 10-15 words/phrases which will be tested weekly.
This is essential to ensure good progress in languages.

WHAT ARE WE STUDYING

Year 8 will be exploring themes of daily routine, household chores, shopping, fashion and free time. As well as eating out.

They will learn some very useful language structures and focus on developing their writing skills this term.

Students are expected to learn 10-15 words/phrases which will be tested weekly.
This is essential to ensure good progress in languages.

Dates

WHAT ARE WE STUDYING

Year 9 will be learning how to describe and compare how they use everyday technology. They will learn how to send sms in Spanish, develop arguments for and against social media and hold a debate on how computer games impact young people.

The language focus is building confidence using 3+ tenses and developing structure.

OTHER INFORMATION

This is a key year to build up more complex language and develop key skills.

Students are expected to learn 15-20 words/phrases which will be tested weekly.
This is essential to ensure good progress in languages.

Dates

WHAT ARE WE STUDYING

Year 10 will be reflecting on progress following their AP1 exams.

They will be studying the theme of social issues, including charity work, volunteering and world problems like hunger and poverty.

OTHER INFORMATION

Students are set weekly vocabulary to learn and exam questions on Show My Homework. Completion of tasks is tracked and parents informed of any students who fail to submit on time.

Dates

WHAT ARE WE STUDYING

Year 11 will be reflecting on progress during their DIRT feedback sessions following assessment last term and focusing on skills specific strategies to improve performance. The last theme is future careers and students will develop their mastery of future tenses in the context of jobs and plans.

Students are set weekly vocabulary to learn and exam questions on Show My Homework. Any students falling behind attend Friday consolidation class.
